Version 0.25 of the High Frontier video game has just been released. Finally, you can settle the outer solar system!
High Frontier version 0.24!
We are thrilled to announce that version 0.24 of the High Frontier video game is now available!
This release begins the final “polishing” phase of the development of the game. You’ll see that in the new building construction and destruction animations, as well as in a new “Advisor” panel that provides context-sensitive tips to get you started.
This is by far the most playable and complete version of High Frontier yet, and we can’t wait to see what you do with it! Stop on by the forums and show off your colonies. Or just say hello and let us know about your interest in space or city simulation. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sticking Points in High Frontier?
For our next release, we’ve already got a couple of fun new features done (like this, and this). But a very important part of version 0.24 is: we want to smooth out the sticking points.
We know people are playing High Frontier. But we have reason to suspect that most people aren’t getting very far. (Nobody’s yet complained about the solar system ending at Mars, for example.)
We’re aware of some of the sticking points — for example, new players often don’t realize that they need to lay down some paths, and paint a nice mix of zones next to them, before buildings can appear. But there are probably other sticking points we haven’t thought of. High Frontier is a complex game, but we’ve been playing it so long that it all seems obvious to us (even when it isn’t!).

High Frontier 0.20: Game On!
We just released version 0.20 of the High Frontier video game. This is an exciting release because it is the first to add a real “game” mode to the game, including opportunities (which earn you Experience Points, or XP) and a project tree (on which you can spend your XP to open up cool new possibilities in the game).

We’ve just released version 0.19 of the High Frontier video game. This release is the first to make areas outside cislunar space available for settlement.
